I be to know what i should lay seeing as I'm getting a new build together. So vote on the challenge if you could. Which one are you running or would choose to run if you had the option/money. Do the 32bit and 64bit versions have different advantages and disadvantages?Stay out you Mac'ers and Linux'ers! (Just kidding please don't flame the thread
)gratify feel free to explain your vote below what problems have you had and did the positives of the grade/grade outweigh these? overlap all your experiences; excitements and niggles. There's also the option of waiting for the first service pack which shouldn't be too desire. At the end of the day. Is it worth it to upgrade to Vista now or should you be with XP?*NB - in the survey the "(any pack)" after Vista means any of them; Home. Premium. Ultimate etc. gratify feel free to state which one of these you have though in the go if it makes a large difference*_________________NEW!! // Antec Nine Hundred // ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium WI-FI // Intel Core2Quad Q6600 (w/ Tuniq lift 120) // 2GB OCZ PC2-6400 Crossfire Edition // ATI x1800XT 256MB // 320GB WD3200KS // LG 20.1" WS LCD L204WT // Logitech X-530 5.1 Speakers
This has been such a contentious issue for me. Should I grade to Vista? The only cerebrate I would do this is for DX10 as I mostly bet on my machine. If I was to go Vista. 32bit then I would be spending $400+ just to get a few extra graphical advances and less FPS. Plus I undergo been turned off from all of the bugs that populate undergo found. Would I have to upgrade my appear card etc etc etc. It just doesn't seem economcally viable at the moment to grade to a nicer looking Operating system for $400+. I guess I will have to wait and see the DX10 games go out perfoming and looking far superior to DX9 before I go to Vista. Besides. I got a feeling Vista is going to be like WindowsME. I reckon there should be another windows version around the corner and that will be far superior. So I anticipate its a another be patience be._________________hudBENQFP202WcpuE6600 moboGIGABYTE DS3 ram2GB OCZ 6400 gpu8800GTS 320 OC boxANTEC180B psuANTEC NEOHE 550 hdd2 150GB RAPTOR
2010 is the release of Windows 7 and what I have heard it is a OS that you buy an annual license for. Thus making it the final attach to Micorosofts lay. Nobody is going to pay for that. T4NK|DRIV3R-US in your sig it says you run the 64bit version of Vista. How's this been for you? Do you have frequent problems with drivers or anything? Have you tried the 32bit version as well to see if there's much difference? Anyone else in the same situation feel free to say this as well
I was hoping that by now a lot of the driver issues would be sorted. Is Vista worth it at all object for DX10 then?_________________NEW!! // Antec Nine Hundred // ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium WI-FI // Intel core out2Quad Q6600 (w/ Tuniq Tower 120) // 2GB OCZ PC2-6400 Crossfire Edition // ATI x1800XT 256MB // 320GB WD3200KS // LG 20.1" WS LCD L204WT // Logitech X-530 5.1 Speakers
If I was building alter now. I'd stick XP32 on. But I'd do my aim best to make sure that all the hardware I was buying/had was Vista64 compatible. I'd be tempted to sight a SATA caddy that I could change HDDs out with and install a couple of different OSes and see how they play. Of course you need the OSes first.

I run 64bit vista. 64 bit applications (mainly the os and some games) are faster than 32bit application but 32 bit things are slower. 1.: because of win vista and 2.:because of 64 bit. I had no driver issues because i ordered my PC how it is and so i only go to my give website and look for the vista 64 bit drivers... I only have FSX as DX10 game and its AWESOME.... Some older games not for 64 bit i run in win 2000 mode... Bf2 180 fps in win 2000 mode

Windows 2008 is a new server OS to regenerate Windows 2003. It will not be designed for "regular" use and chances are you'd be very unhappy with it if you tried. I've been using Vista Ultimate x86 in dual boot since the beta and straight up replaced XP since the end of June. To be honest. I"m very happy with it. Sure it has its flaws. (desire the sluggish file act/write issue in Explorer) but its no worse than XP was less than 8 months after its channel. In my tests XP and Vista are right on par in terms of gaming performance with the current driver set give or act 1-2 FPS (which lets face it isn't noticeable) and things have only gotten better. There are also a ton of changes madeto improve the overall user experience not to mention a ton of little things desire improved system repair options etc. In 5-7 years from now upon Windows 7's channel we'll all be clinging to our Vista DVDs scoffing at the thought of replacing an OS which is "already ameliorate". It happened with Windows 98 it happened with Windows XP it's happening now with Vista and it's going to come about again with Windows 7. As for the x64 version. I plan on waiting till I see some real performance improvements over the x86 edition before I make the switch. Nearly every compatibility problem with Vista you read about involves the x64 edition and the main reason is mainstream 64-bit applications/drivers/OSes are still very new and the kinks still be time to be worked out. If I had to guess I'd say it may take a year for this to happen.
Year by year with Microsft tightening the grip. I am more and more inclined to move away from Windows. For video editing that I am very interested to that is not a problem so much. But for gaming it is a huge one. Perhaps I whould in measure just cast aside thoughts of Windows PC and stick to my consoles (PSP and Xbox 360) for gaming. Linux is not under consideration for me due to the almost anarchic state there and the apart from very rare cases. ASSHOLES that "help" new linux users in forums. With the attitude they are superior human beings just because they experience Linux inside and out. So in say 5 years from now when XP is probably dead. I guess I see myself with an Apple computer at domiciliate and 1-2 or more consoles for my gaming needs. And it will be all Microsoft's accuse. Currently using XP SP2 Home. Tried a trialware version of Vista for few weeks. Didn't dislike it or anything just can't find a single good reason for me to act to Vista. I have the hardware for it just not a cerebrate to. Oh and the next version of Windows ordain be out in 2009._________________Intel C2D E6600 --- evga 8800gts 640mb --- 2x500 Seagate. 2x300GB Maxtor. --- 24" LG L245WMP-BN --- evga nforce 650i ultra. --- 2GB teamsomething
